Onondaga County And Syracuse Will Receive Money To Battle Opioid Crisis

Syracuse, N.Y. - Central New York will be receiving over $6.3 million to help it battle the opioid crisis. New York State AG Letitia James made the announcement today.

The funds are coming from multiple settlements from James' 2019 lawsuit.

The lawsuit against six opioid manufacturers and four distributors resulted in a 1.5 billion settlement. Onondaga County will receive $3.7 million, with the City of Syracuse getting $263,000.

The money will be used to treat people who are struggling with addiction, prevent people from dying of overdoses, and give young people more resources to teach them about the dangers of drugs and opioids.
