Albany, N.Y. - New York State won't require healthcare workers to receive a coronavirus booster shot.
The mandate was supposed to go into effect Monday, February 21st, but the state health department is concerned it could cause staffing shortages.
Requiring healthcare workers to get boosted is not completely out of the question, since the state will reconsider the measure in three months.
State Health Commissioner Dr. Mary Bassett says "While we are making progress with 75% of staff received or are willing to receive their booster, the reality is that not enough healthcare workers will be boosted by next week’s requirement in order to avoid substantial staffing issues"
