Gov Cuomo Says He Will Not Extend COVID-19 State Of Emergency

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo today said that the state is past day-to-day monitoring of COVID.

He said that he will not be extending the state of emergency which will expire tomorrow. "We are still watching Covid," Cuomo said, "It would be irresponsible and reckless not to be wary of Covid."

He also signed the "Safe Staffing Bill" into law. The new mandates in place would enforce staffing standards at every hospital and nursing home in New York regardless of whether the facility is public or private, not-for-profit or for-profit, union or non-union.

In addition, he announced that On Labor Day the state will unveil the "Circle of Heroes" monument at Battery City Park, to honor the essential workers. The monument will consist of a circle of 19 maple trees with an eternal flame in the center.
