Albany, N.Y. - New York is looking to drop the rule that requires masks be worn indoors and outdoors at schools starting Monday.
In a letter sent to the CDC, State Health Commissioner Dr. Howard Zucker said unless the CDC can provide data or science to the contrary, the state will move forward with the removal of the mask mandate.
Schools will be allowed to set stricter rules if they want. The guidelines apply to summer camps as well.
In essence, if you are vaccinated you don't need to wear a mask indoors or out. The same applies to those not vaccinated but the state strongly encourages those people to wear masks in an effort to protect themselves.
Dr.Zucker says the new rules go into effect Monday.
