The state Assembly has passed legislation that could make secret grand jury proceedings more transparent.
The bill would allow the release of some information when a grand jury doesn't bring a felony indictment against a defendant. That information could include the charges considered, the instructions given to the grand jury, and redacted testimony of other witnesses.
