Syracuse, N.Y. - The New York State Department of Transportation is reminding motorists that the speed limit along Onondaga Lake Parkway has been reduced from 55 mph to 45 mph for now until April 1st, 2021.
Given its location on the shore of Onondaga Lake, the Parkway is prone to blowing and drifting snow that frequently results in low visibility and, at times, snow on the road surface, which makes for slippery travel.
Lowering the speed limit during the winter weather months is meant to increase safety along this busy route.
