Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County reported its first COVID-19 death in nearly a month, County Executive Ryan McMahon sharing that sad news today.
The patient was an 81-year-old woman with underlying health conditions. McMahon also reported 61 new cases in the county and the county's positivity rate now stands at 1.2%.
Nine of the cases were related to higher education. Two were K-12 school staff members and one was a remote learning student.
There are 23 COVID cases in the hospital and 8 in ICU
The Onondaga County Health Department is warning the public of potential COVID-19 exposures at two restaurants in the county.
People who visited these restuarnst at these times may have been exposed.

The health department is in the process of identifying any close contacts of the individuals who tested positive.
Those who may have been exposed should monitor themselves for symptoms for 14 days.
