Albany, N.Y. - The total number of confirmed cases of coronavirus has risen to 33, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo.
The Democratic governor updated the state's assessment of the virus during a news conference in Albany on Friday afternoon.
Of those 33 cases, 11 were newly confirmed between Thursday and Friday.
Cuomo said there are 4,000 people under precautionary quarantine, and 44 people who have been subjected to a mandatory or directed quarantine. Of those 4,000, 2,700 live in New York City. Another 1,000 of the quarantined people live in Westchester County. The remaining 300 under precautionary quarantine are spread throughout the state.
