Coronavirus Cases Double In New York In One Day

Albany, N.Y. - More cases of the coronavirus have been confirmed in New York State.

Health officials say 22 people are now being treated for the disease that's continuing to spread rapidly. So far, all of the cases are in downstate areas such as New York City, Long Island and Westchester County.

Governor Cuomo says the number of cases will grow as more testing for the virus is done. He has activated the statewide Emergency Operation Center in Albany, where health experts will gather to closely monitor and respond to the coronavirus outbreak.

Cuomo also that there is a higher level of anxiety surrounding COVID-19 than what the facts suggest. 80 percent of the people who get the coronavirus will self resolve but people with underlying illness and compromised immune systems may end up in hospitals.
