Syracuse, N.Y. - City officials have announced a unique way to address the important issues of income inequality and global warming.
Plans are in the works to plant roughly 70,000 trees over the next two decades as part of an urban forestry project. Once complete, roughly a third of the city would be covered in shade, including areas where a lot of low-income residents live.
Residents in dense urban areas usually pay more to cool their homes since those residences are often surrounded by concrete and asphalt.
