Salina, N.Y. - The truck driver who struck and killed a Liverpool man over the weekend has been named.
Onondaga County deputies say 58-year-old Rene Hamel of Quebec, Canada was behind the wheel of the tractor-trailer that hit 30-year-old Richard Wydick Sunday night. Wydick was walking on Seventh North Street near the Pilot truck stop in Salina when he was killed.
Hamel told investigators he had no idea he hit anyone.
No charges have been filed but police are still investigating.
