Groups Calling On Lawmakers To End Sale Of Flavored Tobacco Products

Albany, N.Y. - Several groups will be coming together in Albany today to call on lawmakers to pass legislation banning the sale of flavored tobacco products.

Organizations that support the Flavors Hook Kids NY campaign says statistics show 80 percent of kids who have used tobacco started with a flavored product. They also say tobacco use costs the state 10 billion dollars a year in health care expenses while taking the lives of 23-thousand New Yorkers.

The state previously tried to ban the sale of flavored vaping products, but it was stuck down by a State Supreme court judge.
