Syracuse, N.Y - The man convicted in a 2017 murder of a Liverpool man was sentenced this morning to 25 years to life.
Jacob Stanton was found guilty of beating and stabbing 25-year-old Jacob Giarusso to death, stuffing him in a car trunk and ditching the car at an apartment complex off Morgan Road. Lawyers noted the pair were longtime friends and would do drugs together.
Prosecutors argued that Stanton cracked his friend’s skull with a blunt object and then stabbed him numerous times at Giarrusso’s grandmother’s house. He threw chili across the bloody living room floor in an attempt to cover up the crime.
Stanton will also serve two to four years each for hiding the body and trying to hide evidence. That means he shouldn't get out of prison for 29 years.
