Salina, N.Y. - A man accused of shaking an infant may face upgraded charges, after the baby died over the weekend.
Mason Washburn was 2-months-old in August of 2018 when he was taken to the hospital suffering from a brain bleed. Investigators and doctors believed the child was shaken. The mother's live-in boyfriend Matthew Brennan was charged with felony assault and a misdemeanor child endangerment.
Mason fought through debilitating injuries for more than a year after the attack, but died on Saturday.
Prosecutors have been monitoring the child's diminishing health and say charges could be upgraded now that the child has died.
