Syracuse, N.Y. - The Syracuse Police Department has been given the green light to create its own crime camera network.
The Common Council approved 50-thousand dollars in funding yesterday. Some of the department's current cameras were affected by a ransomware attack on the city school district.
Money will be used to separate the two systems so police don't miss out on future video evidence.
