Oneida Lake, N.Y. - Authortities are investigating a boat fire that occured this afternoon on Oneida Lake near Frenchman Island.
Onondaga Sheriff Jon Seeber says a couple from Bridgeport called 911 after hearing an explosion from the engine compartment of their 27’ Mariah boat.
The couple soon saw flames and attempted to extinguish the fire before jumping into the lake. The two were not injured and were soon rescued by another boater.
The fire is under investigation.
