Remington Arms To Furlough Illion Workers

Illion, N.Y. - Remington Arms is furloughing roughly 500 workers from its plant in Illion.

The furloughs will begin June 3rd and end on August 12th. Employees also say another shutdown could also happen in December.

Remington Arms filed for bankruptcy last year with a debt of more than 900-million dollars. The state also passed legislation this session allowing gun manufacturers to be sued if their firearms are used in a crime.

Remington has a more than 200 year history of manufacturing firearms in Illion; making it one of the nation's oldest manufacturers.
