Several Liverpool Residents Saved Thanks To Smoke Detector

Liverpool, N.Y. -Some tense moments this morning as a fire rips through a house on Old Liverpool Road.

Around 3am Angelia Ferguson heard her smoke detector go off, and saw flames coming from her kitchen. Ferguson and her 9 year old daughter were able to escape after shattering a glass window and crawling out.

Two occupants in the upstairs apartment were able to escape without any injuries as well. It only took firefighter 30 minutes to get the blaze under control.

Investigatiors determined that the fire was caused by food left on the stove.

Onondaga County Sheriff Sgt Jon Seeber said the fire was progressing quickly.

Had it not been for the working smoke detectors this could have been a mjaor tragedy.
