Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh had his eyes on the future in his second State of the City address. He laid out his vision for the "Syracuse Surge."

What is the "Syracuse Surge"?

Walsh revealed a plan to spend $200 million in private and public dollars to turn Syracuse into a smart city. Walsh called for revitalizing city neighborhoods by enhancing internet access and communications technologies.  

The "Syracuse Surge" is also calling for the development of a new regional Science Technology Engineering Arts and Math school called The Southside Campus. There is no fixed timeline for when the campus will be completed. 

Another part of the plan is to expand some of the technology businesses that have been cropping up along Warren Street.
