Oswego, Firefighters, Agree To New Contract

Syracuse, N.Y. - Firefighters in Oswego have a new contract for the first time in more than two years.

The City of Oswego City Council approved the new contract Monday night.

Mayor Barlow is calling the contract a new chapter in the relationship between the City and the Fire Department. In 2016, Barlow made stiff budget cuts that left a significant number of firefighters unemployed. A new contract was unanimously approved Monday night.

The city and firefighters were able to reach the deal without having to go to court, which is considered unusual. The contract will run through 2022.
