Orwell, N.Y. - Four People have been arrested after a meth lab was discovered at a campsite.
State Police say that on Sunday they checked-in on people acting suspiciously on state land off of Dam Road in the Town of Orwell.
The four were cooking meth in a plastic bottle. The method they were using to cook the meth was a new more mobile and dangerous process of cooking meth called "one pot." Troopers say Kurt Merithew threw the bottle into a campfire. Fortunately, nobody was hurt.
Troopers did find one gram of finished methamphetamine at the campsite.
The following individuals were arrested on the following charges:
- Kurt C. Merithew, age 38 of 448 Stone Road Apt.#1, Oneida, NY for Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine 3rd degree, Unlawful Disposal of Methamphetamine making materials, Tampering with physical evidence and Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 7th degree.
- Jennifer M. Stoddard, age 23, of 213 Park Manor Drive, Oneida, NY for Unlawful manufacturing of Methamphetamine 3rd degree and Criminal Possession of a controlled substance 7th degree.
- Nicole R. Coyle, age 33, of 723 Wadsworth Road, Syracuse, NY, Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine 3rd degree.
- Edward R. Coyle, age 40, of 723 Wadsworth Road, Syracuse, NY, Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine 3rd degree.
