Lodi, N.Y. - Governor Andrew Cuomo has declared a State of Emergency for a broad swath of the Finger Lakes and Southern Tier and even part of Central New York!

The State of Emergency will be in effect until Wednesday, August 21 for Broome, Chemung, Chenango, Cortland, Delaware, Monroe, Onondaga, Ontario, Schulyer, Seneca, Steuben, Tioga, Wayne, Yates, and contiguous counties.

Crews Are Working To Rescue People Trapped By Floods

Parts of Seneca County are in a State of Emergency as the Village of Lodi has been ravaged by Flash Flooding.

The State Emergency Operations Center has been elevated to a Level 3 and additional agencies have been deployed to assist with logistics, transportation and technical rescue, and to coordinate any response efforts in impacted counties. The Governor is also activating regional emergency response teams. State agencies are mobilizing resources and personnel for flash flooding issues from heavy downpours in areas across the state that have experienced an abundance of recent rainstorms.

"I want to make this point as serious as a heart attack: floods are nothing to play with," Governor Cuomo said. "As flash flooding continues to threaten communities across the state, I have declared a State of Emergency for counties in Central New York, the Finger Lakes and the Southern Tier. I commend all of our brave first responders who are assisting communities impacted by this extreme weather. It's times like these, when things are at their worst, that New Yorkers are at their best."

State Of Emergency In Seneca County

Earlier today a group of Firefighters became stranded as they tried to rescue at least 50 people. A torrent of roaring flood waters several dumped feet of debris for more than a quarter mile in the Village of Lodi.

The State of Emergency has less to do with residents doing anything different. It has more to do with the re-direction of resources to the impacted areas.
