Join us as we commemorate the tragedies of Hiroshima Day & Nagasaki Day, and march with hope for a peaceful future and a world free of nuclear weapons and nuclear power. The atrocities at Hiroshima and Nagasaki mark the beginning of the age of nuclear terror. In opposing the use of nuclear power and weapons, we also remember the melt-downs and explosions at the Fukushima-Daiichi nuclear power plant and the Chernobyl reactor. The horrific effects of nuclear disasters in all these places have and continue to cause immense suffering. The U.S. continues to engage in international war-posturing, including threats of nuclear war with weapons hundreds of times more powerful than the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombs.
We will gather BEHIND City Hall Commons between 11:30-12, step off at 12 pm and march to the Everson museum. The march is about 45 minutes long, and we will close with some short speeches on the ongoing relevance of this day amidst the current global nuclear threat. We will need many volunteers - more info to follow!
