A 56-year-old man is fighting for this life after being rescued Thursday when he nearly drowned.
Michael J. Mastro was in waist-deep water at Delta Lake State Park when, lifeguards and a bystander observed him in distress. They responded immediately. Lifeguards then performed CPR until help arrived.
Oneida County Deputies said Mastro was rushed to Rome Hospital by ambulance, where he is in critical condition.
Deputies said they are continuing to investigate.
