Protesters in Syracuse marched Saturday afternoon against the Trump administration's "zero-tolerance" policy at the border.
The protests were part of a nationwide demonstration against the policy of separating children from their families at the U.S. Mexico border. Protests were planned in more than 700 cities across the 50 states.
Protesters began their demonstration at Perseverance Park, at the corner of Washington and Salina Streets, before marching on the area headquarters of Federal Immigration and Customs Enforcement chanting "abolish ICE."
Earlier this month the President, through an Executive Order, ended the practice a family separations for those claiming asylum in the United States. More than 2,000 children had been separated before that order was issued. White House officials say he process is underway to reunite those children with their families.
