Utica, N.Y. - A judge has ordered NASCAR great Tony Stewart and the family of an amateur racer he hit and killed to be in court today.
Stewart was cleared of criminal charges for a 2014 Canandaigua Motorsports Park crash that killed Kevin Ward but faced a civil lawsuit. Stewart and the victim's parents reached a confidential settlement this week and asked that the hearing in Utica be canceled.
The judge said he has to determine if a binding agreement has been reached and details don't have to be discussed. He said both parties need to be in Utica today or he'll continue with a jury trial.
