DeFrancisco: 'I Will Not Primary' For GOP Governor Nomination

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse State Senator John DeFrancisco says that he will not take his run for the Republican nomination for Governor to a primary.

"I'm going to stay in until the end of May, and whatever the vote is, I'm going to abide by it," DeFrancisco said this morning on NewsRadio 570 WSYR. "If the Republican party wants me to run I want to run because I think I can defeat Andrew Cuomo. I know I will not primary anybody because it is difficult enough to beat a Democrat who has the vast majority of votes for that party in the State of New York and who has $30 Million in the bank based on his pay-to-play mentality."

Last Friday, a straw poll was held by party leaders in Saratoga that indicated strong support for Duchess County Executive Marc Molinaro. Since then, his campaign has taken off like a moonshot, despite no formal announcement that his is is back in the race.
