Syracuse faces an old foe at a new school in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of 64 tonight.
After beating Arizona State Wednesday night in Dayton, the 11 seed Orange take on 6 seed TCU late tonight in Detroit.
The Horned Frogs are coached by Jamie Dixon, who spent 13 years torturing Jim Boeheim as the head man at Pittsburgh.
Dixon went 15-6 against the Cuse during his tenure at Pitt, and his success was based largely on his teams’ ability to dissect Boeheim’s patented 2-3 zone.
He’s now in his second year at TCU, his alma mater, and he has them in the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 1998.
The Frogs went 9-10 in the very competitive Big 12 and 21-11 overall.
Pitt, meanwhile, went 0-19 in the ACC this season and just fired Kevin Stallings after 2 years of failing to adequately replace Dixon.
Dixon vs Boeheim, Round 22, is set to tip a little after 9:30, following the conclusion of Michigan State-Bucknell on CBS.
