HOLY TEXTS: Bible, Quran and now... the Women's Bible?

Have you ever been reading the Bible and thought, "Wow, I sure like this, but I just wish there were more feminist politics in it?" Well, you are in luck. Two theology professors have created "A Women's Bible" because "feminist values and reading the Bible are not incompatible."

They explained:

Tired of seeing their holy texts used to justify the subjugation of women, a group of feminist theologians from across the Protestant-Catholic divide have joined forces to draft 'A Women's Bible,' While many feminists have called for The Bible, Christianity, and religion altogether to be cast aside, an eclectic group of theologians instead insists that if interpreted properly, the Good Book can be a tool for promoting women's emancipation.

Unpopular opinion: How about feminists focus on Islam? And not just re-writing the Quran so that it's more palatable for feminists, although that would certainly be a start, but maybe they could do something about the extreme inequality experienced by women in Islamic countries.

One of the authors of the Women's Bible said:

A lot of people thought they were completely outdated with no relevance to today's values of equality.

You want to know what's completely outdated with no relevance to today's values of equality? Forced marriages, including underage girls. Burkas and hijabs. Women needing men's permission for travel, for surgery. Those are just a few examples. The list is daunting.

Here's a passage from the Quran that could use a little updating:

If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of God], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. God is most high and great.

Translation: If a woman doesn't sleep with a man, she can be beaten.

Sura 4:34:

If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of Allah], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. ALLAH is most high and great.

Or this one:

Sura (Chapter) 2:223:

Your women are your fields, so go into your fields whichever way you like.

Or when The Prophet says:

I looked at Hell and saw that the majority of its inhabitants were women.'

Or:

The Prophet said, 'Isn't the witness of a woman equal to half of that of a man?' The women said, 'Yes.' He said, 'This is because of the deficiency of a woman's mind.'

We could easily go all day with examples. So why have feminists refused to acknowledge that Islam is inherently toxic toward women? Why do they choose to demonize Christianity yet ignore the atrocities of Islam? I think we all know the answer to that. Despite Islam being an example of a truly patriarchal society, the ultimate example of the so-called "patriarchy" that Gender Studies professors whine about, feminists still choose to believe that America and American values are their enemy, and that Muslims are helpless victims of American culture. Boy, they couldn't be more wrong.
