The Salvation Army of Syracuse has announced an emergency fundraising campaign in response to a recent funding cut of more than $350,000 — a loss that has put 11 vital community programs at serious risk.
The funding reduction directly impacts services that thousands of individuals and families rely on each year, including: emergency shelter for families, youth, and women, food assistance, early childhood education, family counseling, and senior support programs. Without additional community support, The Salvation Army warns that some of these programs may be forced to reduce hours, limit capacity, or close entirely.
How the Community Can Help
The Salvation Army is calling on individuals, businesses, and community organizations to make a gift to help close the funding gap and keep the doors to these programs open. Every donation directly supports:
- The Emergency Family shelter for families and individuals experiencing homelessness
- Early childhood education and safe, supportive classrooms
- Counseling services that help keep families together
- Hot meals and companionship for seniors
- Continued stability for thousands of neighbors with nowhere else to turn
