Kathy Hochul is a hateful, vindictive tyrant. If you don’t believe me, ask the 2,000 prison guards whose jobs and careers she destroyed this week.
Better yet, ask their spouses and children.
Ask the pregnant women who’ve lost their healthcare, the kids who will lose their homes and schools, the people who’ve lost their pensions and will be impoverished in their last days.
If you cross her, she destroys you, and she gets pleasure out of it, and this week the prison guards got theirs.
There were 2,000 of them, hold outs, wanting safer working conditions and saner working hours. On Monday, she fired them. On Tuesday, she banned them from ever working for the state again.
And seeing that sheriffs and police chiefs had shown an interest in hiring the former prison guards, she issued an executive order that forbad them from working in the state as either jail deputies or police officers.
For the same reason a dog licks its balls.
Because it can.
And because it likes the taste.
And she does like the taste of this. In her sick, megalomaniacal mind, this is leadership. This is her walking tall, this is her showing who’s in charge, this is her crucifying 2,000 families in order to keep a state’s workforce in line.
It wasn’t enough to fire them, she had to destroy their careers and lives, too. She had to make sure they couldn’t get in the years to get their pensions. She couldn’t even tolerate them finding other work in their field.
She wanted to break them, to humiliate them, to impoverish their families.
And she wanted to send a message to the other 250,000 people who work for the New York state government that if any of them got out of line, she would crush them, too.
You can lead by capability, by compassion or by terror, and Kathy Hochul specializes in the latter.
She destroyed the hospital janitors and nurses who wouldn’t get the vaccine, and she has destroyed the prison guards who went out on strike. And she will destroy anybody else who crosses her.
If you were in prison as an inmate, Kathy Hochul wants your records sealed and you to be able to get any job you want. If you were in prison as a guard, Kathy Hochul wants you banned from any state job or any job as a police officer or jail deputy.
Kathy Hochul went out of her way to get jobs for illegal aliens, and she went out of her way to deny jobs for correctional officers who held a strike to protest dangerous work conditions.
These prison guards served for years, in horrible conditions, working ungodly hours, playing a crucial part in our system of public safety. They gave and gave and gave, and when they finally had to take a stand, to survive their jobs and get a few hours with family, the hellfire of the governor’s fury rained down upon them. Nothing they had done mattered, no quarter was given, no gratitude was owed.
They disobeyed her, and they had to be destroyed.
And she has to be stopped.
And the only place that can happen is in next year’s Democratic gubernatorial primary. Somehow, someway, the public employees unions have to find and gather around a candidate to oppose Kathy Hochul. It’s risky, as she is just as ruthless with disobedient Democrats as she is with disobedient employees. But she has to be beaten.
She has lived this long and still thinks shouting the eff word at union bosses is leadership. She is not going to get any better, and we can’t stand her to get any worse.
When she swore in, “The New York Times” said that she, the 45th woman to be governor of a state, would, by virtue of her gender, “usher in an era of civility.”
She sure had them fooled.
Kathy Hochul is a hateful, vindictive tyrant.
She’s proven that again this week.
