A portion of the Onondaga Lake Parkway in Salina will be closed today (June 10) from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. for the fifth annual Syracuse WorkForce Run. The event will feature over 3,200 participants running a 5K course, with proceeds benefiting the Ronald McDonald House of Central New York.
The New York State Department of Transportation has announced that the closure will affect both directions of the parkway between Park Street and Oswego Street. Drivers are advised to follow detours directing traffic to Old Liverpool Road. According to CNY Central, the race will start at 6:45 p.m. at Onondaga Lake Park.
Participants and attendees are encouraged to use the free shuttle service from Destiny USA's pink lot, which opens at 4 p.m. The shuttle will run continuously until 6:05 p.m., with return service available from 7:45 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. Attendees are asked not to park near Onondaga Lake Park.
The event has seen a significant increase in participation, with a 13% rise from last year's attendance, as reported by LocalSYR. The Syracuse WorkForce Run continues to grow, marking its fourth consecutive year of double-digit percentage growth in participants.
