Investigation Underway After Body Found in Oswego

An investigation is ongoing after a decomposed body was discovered near the Oswego West Pier Lighthouse in Oswego, New York. The body, identified as a white adult male, was found on Sunday (June 8) around 6:30 p.m., according to a report from the Oswego Police Department. The remains were located under break wall rocks and surrounded by driftwood and other debris.

The police have yet to identify the man, as no identifying information was found with the body. The remains have been sent to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and whether foul play was involved. According to Syracuse.com, authorities are urging anyone with information to contact Investigator Zackary Quinones at 315-806-8672.

The Oswego Fire Department Marine Unit, New York State Police, the Oswego County Sheriff’s Office, and the US Coast Guard were involved in the recovery and investigation efforts. As reported by CNY Central, the police are awaiting autopsy results to determine if the death was a result of foul play.
