Solon, N.Y. - A man has been arrested after State Police find 41 animals in need of medical care and a large amount of guns.
38 year old Kyle Heller of Solon which is about 15 minutes East of Cortland, was arrested after Troopers executed a search warrant regarding an animal neglect investigation.
They removed 5 goats, 2 cows, a pig, 28 chickens, 4 ducks and a cat, all needing medical care.
Heller, a convicted felon, was also in possession of several guns and high capacity magazines.
Heller was charged with:
- One count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree, class “D” felony
- Three counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree (possession of large capacity magazines), class "D" felony
- One count of Criminal Possession of an Assault Weapon in the third degree, Class “D” felony
- Four counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon the fourth degree, misdemeanor
Charges related to the animals are pending as investigators are awaiting veterinary reports.
Troopers were assisted by the Susquehanna SPCA, the Cortland County SPCA and the Department of Environmental Conservation (DEC).
