The Syracuse Housing Authority (SHA) is planning to construct a new headquarters on Van Buren Street, replacing its current facility on Burt Street. The proposed 30,000-square-foot building will feature modern amenities, including an indoor golf simulator and a rooftop terrace. The current headquarters, which houses over 200 employees, has been deemed outdated and in need of replacement.
According to CNY Central, the Syracuse City Planning Commission received a detailed 71-page application outlining the new building's plans. However, no construction permits have been issued yet, and the timeline for the project's commencement remains unclear.
The SHA is also involved in other projects, such as the Eastwood Heights redevelopment, which is currently a priority. Meanwhile, the Children Rising Center project has been paused due to missed deadlines for securing necessary approvals and funding.
The SHA Board of Commissioners is scheduled to meet on Thursday (February 20) at their current main office on Burt Street to discuss ongoing and future projects.
