The Syracuse Police Department is investigating after a woman's body was discovered in a vacant apartment building on Seymour Street. On Wednesday (January 29), a demolition crew found the remains in an advanced stage of decomposition. The building, known as Peace Manor Apartments, has been vacant since December 2021 and was the site of a fire in October. The city had granted permission for its demolition.

The police have not yet identified the woman, and the investigation is ongoing. Authorities are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. The building, located at 153 Seymour Street, was purchased by Seymour Luxury Residence of Brooklyn in March 2023. The property has a history of code violations and was deemed unfit for occupancy by the city.

The Syracuse Police Department is urging anyone with information to contact them at 315-442-5222. According to Syracuse.com, the building had been a concern for the city due to previous fires and numerous code violations. The investigation remains active, and police are working to gather more details about the incident.
