Congressman John Mannion, representing New York's 22nd District, has been appointed to two key committees in the House of Representatives: the House Education and Workforce Committee and the House Agriculture Committee. These assignments align with Mannion's background as a lifelong educator and former union president, as well as his commitment to supporting organized labor and agriculture in his district.
Mannion, a Democrat, expressed his enthusiasm for these roles, stating that he looks forward to championing policies that invest in education, strengthen the workforce, and support the success of Micron's $100 billion semiconductor facility in his district. He also aims to enhance healthcare and broadband access for rural communities, protect the food supply, and advance child nutrition programs.
The House Education and Workforce Committee oversees federal education programs and workforce initiatives, while the House Agriculture Committee focuses on farm policy, food safety, economic development, and rural development programs. Mannion's experience as a science teacher and union leader positions him to address modern education and labor challenges effectively.
Mannion's district includes Madison and Onondaga counties, along with parts of Cayuga, Cortland, and Oneida counties. His committee assignments will enable him to deliver on his commitment to fostering economic growth and empowering workers in these areas.
