Syracuse police have arrested Marquise Williams, 46, in connection with a hit-and-run incident that left a 64-year-old woman seriously injured. The incident occurred on Sunday night (December 29) near the intersection of James Street and North State Street. According to authorities, Williams struck the woman as she was crossing the street outside of a marked crosswalk and then fled the scene.
The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where she was initially in critical condition but has since stabilized. Williams faces multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated (DWI), leaving the scene of a personal injury crash, and second-degree vehicular assault.
Syracuse.com reports that Williams was issued an appearance ticket and released. The Syracuse Police Department is continuing its investigation and urges anyone with information to contact their Traffic Division at (315) 442-5130.
