Fulton Man Arrested After Attempted Car Jacking And Chase

Town of Volney, N.Y. - A Fulton man arrested after an attempted car jacking and police chase.

State Police say around 6:30, they were called to the Kwik Fill gas station on Route 3 in the town of Volney where they learned that 35 year old Ronald Canfield Jr of Fulton drove erratically into the station, jumped into the driver’s seat of another car that had a 1 year old in the back seat, with intention of stealing it.

When he realized there were no keys, he fled in his car, which Troopers spotted and chased. He tried to flee on foot but was tased and arrested.

He faces the following charges

  • Unlawful Fleeing a Police Officer in a Motor Vehicle (class “A” Misdemeanor)
  • Reckless Driving, Resisting Arrest (Class “A” Misdemeanor)
  • Obstruct Governmental Administration (class “A” Misdemeanor)
  • Attempted Grand Larceny 4th (Class “E” Felony)
  • Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Class “A” Misdemeanor).
