Onondaga County Deputy Injured After Attack By Homeless Man

Syracuse, N.Y. - A Syracuse man has been charged after assaulting two off duty Deputies

Last night around 11:30, two Onondaga County Sheriff Deputies were heading to their cars after finishing their shifts when they were approached by a homeless man wielding a folding hand saw and a metal stool.

The man, 45 year old Joseph Peters aggressively confronted the Deputies and began to damage one of their personal vehicles.

As the two tried to take Peters into custody he slashed one of the Deputies across the face with the saw.

The Deputy was treated and released.

Deputies charged Peters with assault in the 2 nd degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the 3rd degree and criminal mischief in the 3rd degree.
