SUNY Upstate And Crouse Hospital To Merge

Syracuse, N.Y. - Two health facilities may become one if a proposal is approved by the state. SUNY Upstate Medical University plans to buy Crouse Health and merge the two. Crouse Hospital would be rebranded to Upstate Crouse Hospital and Crouse Medical Practice would become Upstate Crouse Medical Practice. The merger would include in and out patient services.

The merger would create a system with more than 13,000 employees, 1200 licensed inpatient hospital beds, and offer more than 70 specialties according to a press release.

There is no talk of staff reductions.
