Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner In The Running To Be Chief Elsewhere

Syracuse, N.Y. - Syracuse Police Chief Kenton Buckner announcing today that he is in the running to be Police Chief somewhere else.

In a statement Buckner said he has been named a finalist for the Chief of Police position in Olympia, WA.

He said he wont comment on it any further, but while participating in the process, he remains fully focused and committed to responsibilities as the Chief of Police in Syracuse.

Syracuse Mayor Ben Walsh said in a statement, "Chief Buckner serves the City of Syracuse honorably and has earned a national reputation as a highly-competent and effective police chief. I have always recognized there would be a time when he would consider other opportunities."

52 year old Buckner, has been the police chief in Syracuse since the end of 2018.
