Syracuse, N.Y. - A Dewitt man was sentenced to 2 years in jail for raping a teenage girl.
In a plea deal, Ronald Backus will go to prison on a statutory rape conviction from the June 2020 incident.
He had been charged with forcible rape, but pleaded guilty only to having sex with a 15 year old girl inside a vacant warehouse in Dewitt.
Upon his release he will be a registered sex offender and on probation for 8 years
