Onondaga County Sees A "Brutal Weekend" Regarding COVID

Syracuse, N.Y. - Onondaga County Executive Ryan McMahon announcing what he called "a brutal weekend" in regards to COVID deaths.

McMahon said 7 people died over the weekend. Two females in their 90's. Five men, three in their 70's and one in his 80's and another man in his late teens. All had underlying conditions.

He reported there were 272 new cases Sat, Sun saw 150 and today there are 135 new cases. He said 52% of new cases are under 29 years of age.

There are 96 residents in the hospital with 27 in the ICU and of those, 89% in the ICU were not vaccinated.

Onondaga County is holding a couple of Moderna booster clinics this week. One clinic is tomorrow at the Oncenter from 9 to 3:45. The other clinic will be Thursday at the War Memoria
