Governor Cuomo Raises Marriage Consent Age To 18

Governor Cuomo has signed off on a new law raising the age of consent for marriage in New York to 18.

The legislation removes the ability for 17-year-olds to tie the knot with judicial or parental approval. The bill is going to take effect within the next 30 days and will apply to any marriage licenses issued after that date.
