NYS Police Searching For Man Who Shot Trooper Near Binghamton

UPDATE: State Police have found and taken Jason Johnson into custody.

State Police are asking the public for help in finding a man accused of shooting a State Trooper.

According to New York State Police, Jason Johnson shot the trooper during a welfare check Wednesday night near Binghamton. The trooper is expected to recover, but Johnson fled the scene and is considered armed and dangerous.

Police say that he is 5’7 and approximately 160 pounds. His hair is in a long mohawk style.

It’s possible that Johnson may be operating a 1996 Ford F-250 pick-up truck, blue in color with the NY license plate HZV7759. 

Police advise that if you see Johnson or the vehicle, do not approach them and call 911.
