City Of Syracuse Takes Over Responsibilty For Sidewalks

Syracuse, N.Y. - A new law in Syracuse takes responsibility for sidewalk maintenance out of the hands of the homeowners

The Common Council, by a 7 to 2 vote is giving the city government the responsibility for repairing, replacing, and maintaining hundreds of miles of sidewalks. Homeowners will no longer be responsible and the city will take over snow removal as well.

There will be an annual $100 fee for residential owners and $300 for commercial owners.

It will be phased in over six years with this year's fee being zero.
