Gov Cuomo Tells 12-17 Year Olds Get a Shot, Get Chance At Free Education

New York City, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo in New York City today and had an announcement for 12 to 17-year-olds.

Cuomo announced a raffle for full scholarships to any public college in the state, open to those aged 12-17 who are vaccinated in the next 6 weeks. Ten scholarships awarded via random drawing each Wednesday, that will provide full, four-year funding for tuition and room and board to public colleges, including SUNY, CUNY, and community colleges. Cuomo said that the sooner the better, as those that qualify will be in subsequent raffles. A raffle will be every held every week.

He also announced good numbers in the state. The positivity rate is 0.7% lowest since August 30th. For comparison, he said the national rate is at 2.6%. Cuomo said New York ranks one of the top three lowest states for COVID positivity. Hospitalizations are the lowest since Nov 3rd and 17 people died.
