Gov Cuomo Lifts COVID 19 Restrictions For Most Of The State

Albany, N.Y. - Governor Cuomo today announcing some welcome news for New Yorker. The orange and yellow zones have been lifted across most of the state, and only a handful of yellow zones remain downstate near New York City.

Cuomo said COVID-19 case rates have declined in parts of the state since the seasonal holiday spike, and he said it's safe for restrictions to be lifted.

Cuomo also said that 96% of New York's current vaccine supply has been used. He said as far as long term facilities are concerned, all residents in the state have been offered the vaccine, and 72% of people in those facilities have agreed to receive it.

The governor said President Joe Biden's national vaccination plan includes 16% more vaccine allocation for New York. Cuomo said that will be the case for the next three weeks, so the state can now put together a plan.
