Tractor Trailer Slams Into Back Of State Snow Plow On 81

Town of Cicero, N.Y. - An early morning accident on Interstate 81 near Cicero exit sent a tractor-trailer driver and snowplow operator to the hospital.

New York State Police say a little before 4 a tractor-trailer driven by 55-year-old Rolando Merino-Rios of Syracuse slammed into the back of a New York State Plow being driven by 25-year-old Stephen Brewster of Syracuse.

The impact caused both vehicles to veer off 81 on to the shoulder and down an embankment.

Both drivers suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The tractor-trailer driver was ticketed for speed not reasonable and prudent and for following too closely.
